Main objectives:

Increased traffic on Croatia's domestic waterways and improved irrigation capacity

Short description:

By constructing the channel all Croatia’s domestic waterways would be linked to the European network of inland waterways. Project includes a channel 61,4 km long, 30 m wide and 3 m deep. The construction of the channel will significantly increase the traffic on Croatia’s domestic waterways. For instance, the channel will shorten the passage between Slavonski Brod and Vinkovci for an extra 400 km. Along with its transport and economic role, it has an important role in the irrigation of 30% of the Vukovar area.
