Main objectives:
  • Modernization of the main highways in Latvia, the Baltic countries and the other countries of the Three Seas Initiative is considered the most important infrastructure component.

The countries’ consolidated highway programme is an important stimulator of economic growth in the region. Construction of the Salaspils-Baltezers as part of the Via Baltica project will be carried out by the Latvian state company Latvijas Valsts ceļi (LVC).

Short description:

The project will improve traffic flow. The said area is one of the heaviest traffic areas in Latvia, therefore the road will bring significant benefits – it will reduce time and fuel consumption, as well as the risk of accidents. The route is part of a bypass that will improve connectivity in the Greater Riga regions.
