Short description:

The investment will consist of implementing and operationalizing a High-Performance Computing Center (HPC Center) in Romania, which will include the construction of the necessary physical infrastructure, the provision of specific hardware (servers, LAN infrastructure), and specialized software (e.g., OpenHPC combined with various monitoring, management tools, MPI libraries).

High-Performance Computing (HPC) refers to the practice of aggregating computing power to achieve much greater computational capabilities than traditional computers and servers. HPC, or supercomputing, is similar to regular computing systems but considerably more powerful. It is a way of processing vast amounts of data at very high speeds, using multiple computers and associated storage devices, like in a unified computing network. HPC in the cloud is changing the economics of product development and research by efficiently utilizing resources for prototyping, accelerating the testing process, and reducing time to market. HPC helps engineers, data experts, designers, and researchers solve difficult and complex problems much faster and at lower costs than traditional computing technology allows. The HPC market is continuously growing, with the market size in the USA expected to increase from $31 billion in 2017 to $50 billion by 2023.
