Project will substantively contribute to the competitiveness of the region in the science, - including e.g health sciences, climate change modelling, etc. - innovative development, and high-tech fields.

Short description:

Neither the total performance of the present Hungarian HPC (0,45 PF), nor the currently planned capacity development till 2022 (5 PF) are satisfying the need of the Hungarian HPC users community. Neither is it effective for operating a resourceful HPC ecosystem. Beyond the R&D users, the number and demand for applications of new innovative SME-s and business sector is growing in the future.

The growing complexity of applications and the use of modern HPC-s requires for serious HPS culture and its progress, i.e. and HPC ecosystem development. Building an effective ecosystem may be more successful with joint international efforts, and such it will contribute to faster economic progress in the CEE region. A demand of joint international actions is already existing from neighbouring economies, like Austria, Italy and Germany, as well as from major international research organisations like CERN in Geneva.

Naturally high capacity data transfer is needed not only as the request from data economy, but also as fast data exchange between the networked HPC-s in the region.

The aim is to create and constantly develop HPC infrastructure in Hungary and in the region, in order to have a globally competitive HPC network by 2024-25, backed.
