The GIPL pipeline will run from Janiunai Gas Compressor Station (GCS) in Sirvintos district to Holowczyce GCS on the Polish side. A gas pressure regulating and metering station will be built in the territory of Lithuania. The length of the pipeline in the territory of Lithunia will be 165 km. Project capacities: 2.4 bcm/y towards Lithuania, and 1.9 bcm/y towards Poland.

It is planned to finish construction in Lithuanian teritory by the end of April 2022.
The total value of the GIPL project is approx. EUR 500 m. The European Commission finances over 60% of the project costs. The Polish transmission system operator, Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and Lithuanian transmission system operator AB Amber Grid, signed a trilateral agreement with the EU Innovation Network Executive Agency - INEA regarding the financial aid of the EU for the measure entitled “Construction of Gas Interconnection Poland-Lithuania (GIPL) including supporting infrastructure”. Based on the agreement, the project was awarded EU financial support, under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), to the amount of EUR 295.4 million. From the whole amount of financing, up to EUR 55 million was allocated to AB Amber Grid, whereas GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. will receive up to EUR 240.3 million.
On 1st July, 2020 The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed up to a €65 million loan agreement with Lithuanian gas transmission system operator AB Amber Grid to finance the construction of the Lithuanian section of the planned gas interconnection between Poland and Lithuania. In addition to EU financial support, the construction of the GIPL project will be funded by Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia by a cross-border cost allocation decision covering part of the GIPL infrastructure costs on the territory of Poland - a total of EUR 54.9 million. The project promoters fund the rest of the project.
