Main objectives:

Project of the multifunctional inland waterway corridor connecting Baltic Sea, Black Sea and North Sea, including energy, water management functionalities.

Short description:

Multi-purpose water corridor Danube-Oder-Elbe.

    The Czech feasibility study was completed.

    Poland finished the feasibility study.

    Planning

    The Czech Republic and Poland agreed on the Waterway Border Crossing Point and started discussions on the Oder Waterway Project, in a follow-up to the decision of the Czech Government to start preparation of the construction of Ostrava/Bohumín– Kozle connection. Both States ally in activities leading to improvement of inland waterways navigability.

    The Szczecin-Niederfinow section (Oder-Havel-Kanal) of the Oder waterway is included in the TEN-T.

    Czech Government took a decision on the preparation of construction of Ostrava-Kozle connection as the pilot project.

  • 2022
    Planning

    Czech-German agreement concluded on Elbe navigability, incl. parameters for the Elbe Waterway.

At this point, when the scope of the project is expected to be a subject of a political decision, the total budget estimate is not available.

The relevance of the project will increase due to the European Green Deal as well the EU Strategy on Sustainable and Smart Mobility.

The envisaged cross-border sections with a contractual basis comply with the CEF regulations .
