Reconstruction of the OHL 400 kV Mukachevo-Kapusany section from SS 400 kV Mukachevo to the state border in Zakarpattia region

Reconstruction and upgrading of existing OHL between Slovakia and Ukraine and related substations will increase the transmission capacity between the Slovak and Ukrainian power systems. The project will prepare the way for integration of power systems of Ukraine and Moldova into the European electricity market.
Implementation of the project will improve system stability in the given region. Eliminating the existing restrictions on power flows between the Slovak and Ukrainian power systems on the one hand, and the Hungarian and Romanian and Ukrainian power systems on the other will affect the pricing and conditions of the European electricity market.
This project has already been identified as a Project of Common Interest (PMI) for the development of European transmission infrastructure. The project was also supported by the Slovak system operator SEPS.
It is planned to reconstruct the 400 kV outdoor switchgear at the Mukacheve substation to replace the physically and morally worn-out main equipment and to enable the connection of an additional 400 kV OHL in the direction of the Velke Kapusany 400 kV substation.
The project envisages increasing the capacity of the Ukraine-Slovakia interconnector to 1000 MW
