Main objectives:

Improve rail infrastructure to allow superior flow and increased speeds.

Short description:

Sections:

Brno – Přerov

In the section Brno hl. n. - Přerov, it is a series of constructions to add a second track and modernise the conventional line, which currently allows an operating speed of maximum 100 km/h. The maximum speed of trains here will be 200 km/h, which will halve the journey time between Vyškov and Brno. The noise level is also to be reduced. As part of the modernisation, the section will be converted from direct current to alternating current. ETCS signalling will also operate on the entire line and will be controlled from a single location, which will be CDP Přerov, once completed.

Brodek u Přerova – Prosenice

The extension of the route from Prosenice to Brodek u Přerova is a follow-up to the approved feasibility study (Brno -) Přerov - Ostrava from 2021. The construction of this connection with the planned high-speed line will bring a number of advantages to the Olomouc metropolis, such as shorter travel times between the cities and a positive impulse for housing development. The section will be intended exclusively for passenger train transport with a speed of up to 320 km/h, and is connected to the Moravská brána I VRT between Prosenice and Hranice at the Hliníky branch line.

Přerov – Ostrava

The section includes the projects Moravská brána I (RS1 Prosenice - Hranice n. M.) and Moravská brána II (Hranice n. M. - Ostrava - Svinov), it is a double-track line, electrified with AC power supply system and secured by the uniform European ETCS system. It will serve exclusively passenger transport. The line will significantly increase the capacity of the railway in the region, shortening journey times between Ostrava, Brno, Vienna, Prague and other cities in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Ostrava – státní hranice

The planned Katowice-Ostrava section will connect the Moravian-Silesian region to the Baltic States via a high-speed line with a maximum speed of 250 kilometres per hour. The preparation is being carried out in cooperation with the Polish side, the only ambiguity in the Czech Republic is where the high-speed line will cross the state border. One option runs along the D1 motorway near Bohumín, the other near Dolní Lutyně, while the option through Dolní Lutyně is better perceived, where the problematic Natura section around the Olše river must be solved, but there are more problems around the motorway, mainly technical.
