Upgrade of the Rijeka Port infrastructure – supplying container ships from the mainland

The project entails the installation of equipment – electricity substations, electric cables and connecting devices necessary for connecting container ships to the land power grid during port hours, in accordance with the Regulation (EU) 2023/1805 on the use of renewable and low-carbon fuels in maritime transport, and amending Directive 2009/16/EC. The installed power output to each berth will be 7.5 MW with a voltage of 6.6 kV and a frequency of 60 Hz.

The equipment is planned to be financed with funds from the CEF in the amount of 13.2 mil €, while the remaining 2.3 mil € is planned to be financed with the Port Authority's own funds.
The project is in the CEF’s application phase – the decision on financing in expected in June 2024.
